The following day we set off on a day trip to Cannes, just weeks after the famed film festival. There we walked along the boardwalk, posed on the red carpet, and checked out side street shopping and waterfront souvenir shops. A train tour of the city (which became a staple of most of our travel destinations), provided for an entertaining afternoon as it winded up and down narrow, steep and winding streets, resting nose to nose with a second trolley train in the middle of the road. At a crossroads of sorts, we watched our fellow passengers and conductors disassemble the other train into its individual cars and components, bid adieu, and we were off and chugging toward the finale of our tour. A follow up walk along the main waterfront boulevard, and we were transformed into the lives of the rich and famous. Like St. Tropez, Cannes caters to the lavish lifestyle, with little luxury to spare.

To round out our day in Cannes, we sat, dined and drank wine on an outside terrace, reminiscing about stories and opinions of old. A toast of champagne with a new friend completed our day of cinematic adventures and wine soaked dreams!
