Petit somme ou sieste - these are a few more of my favourite things!!

I am one happy French girl!! I officially experienced my first sieste en France and it was all I imagined and dreamed it would be! While I have nodded off here or there after consuming an amazingly delicious large lunch, I had yet to engage in the ritualistic nap après diner.

So I cozied up on the couch curled up in a blanket with Beverly Hills Cop (en français) playing in the background, and entered a heavenly state of slumber. So, maybe I overslept or I was making up for lost petit somme hours, but I slept for at least an hour and a half, and it was wonderful!

Or maybe…. the soirée of techno beats, karaoke, et musique above my head until 1:30 last night created the perfect amount of sleepiness required for my afternoon indulgence!! Merci mes voisins en haut!

These are a few of my favourite things...

Baguettes with butter and platters of cheese,
Fresh eggs for omelettes and coffee to please.
Fondant au chocolat, taste buds that sing,
These are a few of my favourite things.

Strolls through the markets, with fresh fruit and pastries,
Kisses on cheeks with les fleurs for the ladies.
Cafés and Bistros and dreaming of spring,
These are a few of my favourite things.

When the cork pops!
When the wine’s poured!
When I’m feeling glad!
I simply remember my favourite things and then I don’t feel so bad ......

Eh ben dis donc!

Well I never.....

Who would have thought that getting a french bank account was as easy as showing up in blue jeans, speaking my finest french and all without a hint of future employment or proof of actual earnings?

Today, I secured my very own french 'compte bancaire'. A big pat on the shoulder for me!! Not only did I approach the receptionist on my own, exclaiming, “J'ai un rendez-vous à dix-heures et demie." To which she replied something like, ‘have a seat over there to wait before your appointment' (in French naturally). At least that is what I understood ;) Then I entered the office with my Dad (of course), and applied for my very own bank account en français!! Plus…. I was able to answer many of questions asked of me (after being repeated at least twice), on my own!

That being said, I have no idea what type of account I have, I assume it is a chequing account? And, I am clueless as to the fees, rules & regulations. But I do have a nice nifty package of about 20 forms in French that I dotted, initialled and signed to start this whole process!! Now to transfer my Canadian funds into their new home….

I am growing up – insert applause!!
