Up and awake way too early for yet another day of travel….. Dave and I set out for a much dreaded trip (at least for me … I don’t know how he does it on a daily basis) on the Underground, followed by a train to Stansted Airport, and all before 6:30 am…. Yawn
Around 2 hours later we were in Dublin, and off to explore the capital of Ireland!! After dropping off our, err… mostly my stuff, we found an eclectic and shabby, yet cozy restaurant/coffee shop by the name of Gruel …. comfortably reminiscent of the old Eclectic Café, now Phog Lounge in Windsor!!
Our bellies were full with traditional Irish fare, all the while enjoying the indie playlist that later switched to a mixed set of Depeche Mode tunes, and admiring the décor, including mismatched furniture, decrepit religious statues and captivating large scale tango dance photography .
Later in the day we checked out a historic photo exhibit, drank coffee and tea while feasting on the best chocolate scone in all of Dublin, at the Queen of Tarts; and ended the night with a much enjoyed pint or two… or three of Irish beer in the Temple Bar District.
… and as you can see by the photo, I have no problems handling Irish beer!...
