Another chilly but clear day in Ireland... fitting for the upcoming winter solstice... On this afternoon we headed to Boyne Valley to the historical site of Newgrange; a designated UNESCO world heritage site more than 5000 years old.

A miraculous site built in alliance with the winter solstice. An ancient teller of time that continues to accurately reflect the rising solstice sun. A site older than the Egyptian Pyramids and Stonehenge!

A narrow passageway leads to the centre of the tomb where the solstice sun illuminates the temple and its crevices. While we were there approximately one week too early to witness this mystery of light, the history, philosophy and reverence of the temple was sensed and appreciated!

Aside from the magnificence of this site, the landscape and surrounding countryside is breathtaking, awe inspiring, and captivating!

Later that night, Aggie and I reflected on the splendor of the site with a few pints of Irish beer and cider and yummy pub grub, while warmed by the glow of the fire...
